Milestones

On August 22, 2006, Project Management Consultants (PMC) for YAP-II Project in association with National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) of Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India launched the website (www.pmc4yap2.com) & released the Vision Document on YAP-II Project at Scope Auditorium in New Delhi.

The Vision Document is released by Chief Guest Shri A. Raja, Honorable Minister of MoEF, Govt. of India. He appreciate the approach of YAP-II involving first time PP&A, Institution Strengthening & Capacity Building of ULBs and other initiation for YAP-III project.

The website about YAP-II i.e. www.pmc4yap2.com was inaugurated by Mr. Hidenao Yanagi, Minister for Economic and development, Embassy of Japan. Mr. Yanagi expressed their valuable continuous support and cooperation to Govt. of India for such Environment restoration and river water conservation projects.

On the Occasion, the Secretary, MoEF, Shri P. Ghosh has Special Mention about the Wazirabad to Okhla Stretch, which is Polluting the river by various means.

Shri Naresh Dayal, Project Director & Special Secretary MoEF, Govt of India has also showed the Vision of YAP-III, after which the Yamuna would have got back to its Original Quality of water to a Considerable extent. He emphasized the need to generate mass awareness among the Various Stakeholders.

In addition to this, a Cultural Programme on River Yamuna was made by the team of Smt. Shovana Naryana.

On December 14, 2005 a highly successful workshop was held in Delhi involving several internationally renowned participants organized by the Project Management Consultant (PMC) on the subject of “YAP-II and Beyond: A Workshop on Dissemination of Trenchless Technology in India” with the purpose of sharing the information with the experts worldwide on adoption of Trenchless Technology in the YAP-II programme in Delhi.

In the workshop, technology its application, uses & problems were discussed in details through Audio & Video presentations by several experts in this field, who had particularly been invited from various countries to make presentation and share their knowledge & experience here in India with the participating members of this workshop.

An Orientation programme for Nodal Officers / Reform Champions of Haryana was organized by PMC on 22nd February 2006 in Hotel Centrum at New Delhi. The programme was also participated by the officers of Public Health Engineering Department, Haryana.

The JBIC and the NRCD shared their views on the above programme and explained the necessity of such a vital programme in this diverse project. The programme was an interactive session with lot of information shared between the Reform Champions of carious Urban Local Bodies and PMC experts. The suggestions put forward by the participants were noted and very valuable for successful design and implementation of the project.

An Orientation programme for Nodal Officers / Reform Champions of Uttar Pradesh was organized by PMC on 9th March 2006 in Hotel Surya Crown Plaza at New Delhi. Officers of Project Implementing Agency i.e. UPJN were also participated in the programme.

The programme was an interactive session with lot of information shared between the Reform Champions of carious Urban Local Bodies and PMC experts. The suggestions put forward by the participants were noted and very valuable for successful design and implementation of the project.
