The Delhi seminar was organized by Tokyo Engineering Consortium (TEC), the project management consultant acting for the Ministry of Environment National Rivers Conservation Directorate on the Yamuna Action Plan Phase-II. YAP-II is a major environmental improvement programme, focused on the Yamuna River, which stretches over 1,200 km from Himachal Pradesh through Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi to the Ganges River.

Trenchless Technology has a major role to play in the construction of new infrastructure and the restoration of old and will feature in both the YAP-II and the Trunk Sewer Improvement Projects. The development of technical, professional and management sills in these technologies will be a huge challenge in all sides of the industry and lessons should be drawn from the experience of other overseas countries and their emerging programmes to short circuit the learning curve.
